Fourth Barnstormer Signed In 2009

Right-hander Jon Huber became the fourth Barnstormer signed by a Major League organization in the 2009 season as his contract was purchased by the Atlanta Braves system, it was announced today. He follows Jason Perry, Josh Hall and Tom Cochran back to affiliated baseball.

He has been assigned to the Braves new Class AAA affiliate in Gwinnett County, Georgia, immediately outside Atlanta.

Huber, 27, was 1-0 with two saves and a 3.63 ERA in 18 appearances for Lancaster. He had thrown 11 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings prior to his stint in the late innings of Friday night’s 6-4 loss to the Camden Riversharks.

The Ft. Myers, Florida resident previously pitched in the Major Leagues with the Seattle Mariners, appearing in 25 games, all in relief over two seasons. He had a 2-1 record and 2.57 ERA with Seattle.

“Jon has been nothing but a total professional,” said Barnstormers manager Von Hayes. “I hate to lose him, but, at the same time, I really want to see him do well,”
