The Lancaster Barnstormers have announced their 2006 Atlantic League season schedule, which features 13 weekend homestands -up from 11 last season – along with two additional home games. Game times have not yet been determined and will be announced at a later date, along with the promotional schedule.

The 126-game schedule begins with the season opener at Clipper Magazine Stadium on Friday, April 28 against the Road Warriors, who will take the place of the Nashua Pride in the eight-team Atlantic League. The regular season concludes on Sunday, September 24, also at home against the Road Warriors.

The home opener will kick-off the first of 13 weekend homestands at Clipper Magazine Stadium. The regular season schedule includes 72 home games, two more than Lancaster had last season. The Barnstormers will have two days off following their season-opening, three-game homestand, before hitting the road for the first time with two games in Atlantic City and three games in Somerset against the defending-champion Patriots.

The home schedule features three holiday games for fans to enjoy including both Mother’s Day and Father’s Day (May 14 and June 18), along with a Labor Day game on September 4. The longest homestand of the season is ten games, running from August 28-September 6. The Barnstormers never travel for more than six straight games.

The Barnstormers will play each of the other seven Atlantic League teams 18 times, split evenly between home and away, with the exception of the games against the Road Warriors, which will all be played at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

“We are pleased with our 2006 schedule and are excited about having even more weekend games and two additional home games for our fans to enjoy,” said General Manager Joe Pinto. “We can now really start lining up a terrific promotional schedule with the goal of making our second season even more memorable than our first.”

The home schedule features three games in April, 14 games in May, 16 in June, six in July, 19 in August and 14 in September. The All-Star break will take place from July 11-13, with the Atlantic League All-Star game scheduled to take place in Bridgeport, CT on July 12.

2006 Barnstormers season tickets are now available by calling 717-509-HITS, or by visiting www.lancaterbarnstormers.com. While two additional games have been added to the home schedule, full season ticket prices remain the same, meaning an even deeper, per game discount for fans to take advantage of.

Game times, a schedule of promotions and dates of 22 and 10-game plans will be announced within the next few weeks. The complete Atlantic League composite schedule is included in this email.
