Season Nine To Open Against Camden

The Lancaster Barnstormers will open their 2013 season at home against the Camden Riversharks on Thursday, April 18, it was announced today by the Atlantic League and club officials.

It will mark the beginning of the ninth season of baseball at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

Lancaster, coming off a record-setting 88-win season, will once again play 70 games in Lancaster and will be home on 11 Fridays and Saturdays as well as 12 Sundays. They have three home weekends against the archrival York Revolution in their quest to retain possession of the Community Cup. The Barnstormers will be home on Memorial Day and July Fourth, entertaining the Sugar Land Skeeters on both occasions. Lancaster will also play at home on Labor Day Weekend against Bridgeport before being idle on Labor Day itself.

June is the busiest month at Clipper Magazine Stadium with 16 home games on the docket for the Barnstormers.

There are two day-night doubleheaders built into the Barnstormers schedule, both on the road. Lancaster will face the Camden Riversharks in a split twinbill on Tuesday, July 16 and at York on Saturday, August 10.

The season will end at Southern Maryland on September 15.

There are no changes to the Atlantic League structure for the 2013 season as the league will field the same eight clubs as in 2012. However, there is one significant change to the 2013 schedule format. The season will begin one week earlier than normal. The first half will end on June 30, and the second half will be underway by a week before the All-Star break and the All-Star Game at Southern Maryland on July 10. Playoffs will be complete by the end of September.
